The Cause of
Your Problems Is Your Thoughts
Professor David Bohm was considered one of the
world’s foremost theoretical physicists, but he was also a lot more
besides. Dr Bohm also explored the thought process as few have done
so before. He proposed that the world’s thought system was the
primary source of the world crisis. David explored the usually
ignored regions of consciousness, perception, and language and said
that thought and knowledge was in fact part of reality, yet it was
not usually seen that way. “Thought
is constantly producing consequences and saying, ‘I didn’t do it.’
He explored the whole process of thought as it produces
self-deception and violence all through society.
At his twice-annual dialogue in Ojai,
California, in December 1989, He said; “When you are sick you could
say that it’s your cold, your flu, or it’s Asian flu, or somebody
else’s flu. But actually, it’s just flu. The thing is that your body
nourished it. Similarly, your mind nourishes all these thoughts,
even those that have harmful or destructive effects on the whole
system. You could say that we have
caught these neurotic thoughts and given them nourishment.”
In the same year at a
dialogue at MIT Professor Bohm carried on along these lines; “It’s
not that we should blame each other, because this is like an
infection. You know computers can be infected by viruses that
spread, well so can we. This is a
kind of miss-information that infects us. And people spread
it from parents to children. It’s spread in schools everywhere….You
could equally as well be infected with a virus that programmed your
cells to reproduce viruses instead of cells. Then you would be
finished if you can’t stop it with some kind of immune system. And
whether there’s an immune system in
thought, we might ask the question.”

the significance of Dr Bohm’s contribution to becoming one of the
few who get to the root of our individual and the world’s problems,
as opposed to hacking at the branches.
